There probably is another way, but it was easier for me just to remove a few screws and backup the SD card, then if I broke anything I had a backup.
Sorry I can't be of more help. Can you not install apk's from adb install <pkg name> from the windows command prompt? then install something like kingroot perhaps?

Thank you for your answer. If I try to install an apk file of sd card with adb install <apk name> i become the error "no device"
Do I need root (su) to install apk files??? su doesnt work in adb, i become the message no permission su.
The Adb access also works only if the Storio Max is started and USB Debugging and unknown sources  in Android Settings is active.
I have no ADB access when i push the Buttons left/up , Vol+ and ON/OFF.  I don't know what you mean with "kingroot"????

I can't access to the adb because it said "error: device '(null)' not found" when I test "adb shell".

I already tried to reinstall usb google drivers, adb, etc. But adb didn't find the device...
I also tried to restart my computer.

In the device manager, I can see the "Android ADB Interface" (So why adb doesn't see it ?).

I follow this thread (http://spiffyhacks.harmonypogo.com/thread-606.html) and I tried to activate the "USB Debugging" and "Unknown sources", but nothing changes.

I can start the recovery mode only with "left/up, Vol+ and power" (because with the context button instead the vol+, it doesn't work, it starts normally).

Do you have any idea please ?

PS : I can access with adb when Innotab max is started normally (without recovery mode and with "USB Debugging" and "Unknown sources" activated)

I have exactly the same problem.
Which driver did you install?
For me, the Android Composite ADB Interface is installed under Android Device!

Hello I can not understand how to create the empty file of the start __vtech_enable_debug it extention it must add example .seed or .txt because I do not see the point bottom left I have a storio max 5 version 34.77AUS

Hi, just create a .txt file with notepad called __vtech_enable_debug then delete the .txt at the end. You may need to go into folder options on your PC and untick the box "hide extensions for known file types" to be able to see .txt .exe etc as windows hides them by default.

I mentioned "kingroot" it is a program for android (an APK) that roots phones / tablets and other devices (google it).

Avant ca fonctionné , depuis la mise a jour et une restauration usine , plus rien , rien ne se passe quand je place le fichier __vtech_enable_debug dans le dossier VTECH

How to enable "debug mode"

Create a file on the internal SD in the vtech folder called
__vtech_enable_debug

Stupid question: how can I create a file on the internal SD in the vtech folder? Do I need to hack the device to access this folder? is there an easy way?

hello, i have the menu, but no adb access.
When i do the adb devices command, there is no device found.
What should i do after that ? Something to install ? How activating usb debug mode ? When i tick 7 times on the version, the Developper option doesn't appear ...
It is the same with the recovery mode, recovery started, driver installed but no device in the adb device command return.
