Bingo. It looks like at least two of them do - two that I recall seeing with this problem.
Do you know what controls the order the icons appear in the leap pad. EG. so that Toy Story 1, 2 and 3 will appear in order?
Also, I found that having blank categories (EG. Category=" ") caused the whole menu not to appear. Any rules around using categories? I wanted a blank one so that the text "Video" didn't appear over the top of the icon. I've downloaded and resized nice icons for the movies from the internet. But I'd still like the custom videos to appear at the end of the menu screen.
Cheers

No, I've never looked into ordering although IIRC Deak did but as the icons can be drag-and-dropped he said he'd not bother to work it into the Manager.
As for leaving the icon clean without the 'Video' overlay, couldn't you edit both the icons within the .tar file? I think I've done that before. Pay attention to the icons pixel sizes as I expect the overlay is bigger?
I don't know much about categories, sorry.

Yes, I've set both icons to be the same. But it overlays the category name over the top of the image. Thanks for your replies - very helpful.

any ideas what could cause the issue I am on wondows 10 with a leap pad 3x

If you've enabled Developer mode and rebooted, you need to FTP into the LeapPad to delete the 'developer' file within the 'flags' directory. You won't be able to connect via LeapPad Manager until you do this.

can I ftp without wifi ?
can I connect to device with the cable ? and ftp into it ?
ftp was 192.168.0.111 if I am not mistaken but I was never able to ftp into the device
the problem the device shutdown after a certain period of inactivity and that then I lose the connection
or is there anyway to do a hard reset without the leap pad connect

Bonsoir,
Bon courage.

You should be able to follow this tutorial on how to FTP into the device. Then you can remove the developer flag so the app can connect again

- Download the Software HERE
- Run the software and go to the LeapPad menu then Video Maker
- Find a video you want to use on your PC and drag / drop it onto the software in step 1
- Enter in the details you want and click the Convert Video button
- While it is converting, you can do step 7 and edit the icons specified to reflect your video and save them with the same names overwriting the existing ones.
- Once the video is done, click the Create App button and it will put all the files into a .tar file.
- You can close the Video Creator app so you are back to the main LeapPad Manager app.
- Connect your LeapPad to your PC and ensure the official Connect software is not running.
- In the custom LeapPad Manager software, go to LeapPad / Connect and it should connect to your device and display some info in the log window
- Simply drag / drop your video .tar file to the program to install it.
Please be aware that the app needs administrator privileges so it can scan the devices and find the LeapPad. You can right click on the device and choose run as administrator. In order to drag/drop to the app, you may need to adjust your UAC or disable it.
If you are still unable to connect to the device, you may need to disable the Leapfrog Connect Device Service and ensure you are not in developer mode.
If the videos do not play, you need to install the video player which you can find here http://www16.zippyshare.com/v/77880182/file.html
The latest software v1.8.0 has been uploaded and will auto check if you need the video player. It also has ffmpeg included. If I start running into bandwidth issues, it will be removed.
I'm running Windows 10 (I state this because I have been having compatibility issues) and cannot get past step 4. While running the program in administrator mode, I open video maker and find a file. After that, the convert button does not become an option. I have tried with multiple files to see if there was a problem. Same with all files. I hope I am missing something simple. Other than that, I am trying to do this for a LP Platinum. From the forum so far, I know that the manager was not adapted for it specifically. I haven't even got far enough for that to be a problem.
Thanks.
