Hmmm I have never heard of a password on one and not sure the best way to go about trying to find out what it is. You can try connecting to the PC software, if the Leapster supports that and see if that will remove the flag. There might also be a recovery mode like on the LeapPad 2 where if yo hold down certain buttons on bootup, it will go into recovery. You can then connect to the PC software and it will do a firmware restore.
I posted a link to an app I made that lets you toggle between dev mode on the device. This needs to be installed through the LeapPad Manager app though first. I also don't know if it will work on the Leapster or not.
