Oh well that is good that you at least have a W7 machine you can use to copy stuff over. I am not sure what the deal is with Windows 8 since it worked fine for me. I did not run any updates, it was a fresh install, so not sure on the exact issue. I determined my issue was that loads of files on my backup drive got corrupted which included my LeapPad manager app and some dll's etc.
Luckily I was able to get the source code for the app in-tact. My video converter app had some corrupted files, but the code was in-tact. I simply had to start a new app, then copy the code over and re-build it. My video downloader app was completely corrupted so I could not recover that. Luckily my converter app had a downloader build in as well so that is ok.
Maybe I can do some debug stuff and when it loops through the drives to find the leap pad, I can spit it out to the log so we can see if for some reason it is showing up under a different name in windows 8. That is the only thing I can think of since its running fine, just not connecting.
