Leap Pad Manager
#61
Did the program show as being connected as "Leap Pad 3"? Remember with any custom content, if you connect online, it will wipe the data.

the Leap Pad 3 is wifi.  When the program finished it was in the list under the installed apps on ur program.  Then i had to go into parent/admin mode on the leappad 3 and it showed under purchased or someting.... to install it should i have disconnected wifi? are you saying if my daughter watches the youtube videos that leapfrog puts on there via wifi that it will wipe the other programs or only when going to like updates and appstore etc...?

Hi!
I've been trying to use the Leappad Manager program - and I cant connect. It keeps trying to look for the device as \\.\PhysicalDrive0, however that is my Windows OS SSD drive. The drive that the leappad is on is \\.\PhysicalDrive6.

The full error is:
Scanning Devices:

\\.\PhysicalDrive0
ERROR: System.IO.FileLoadException: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070020)

[Error] Can't connect to device!

It doesnt look like its scanning the drives properly - is there anyway you know to fix this?

Thanks!

When you add custom videos then you don't need to "install" via the tablet.  It should show up when you are done transferring using the app.  If you want to be able to use custom videos then you must disable the wifi.  Everytime your device boots up, it does a call out to the internet to ensure all your apps are verified and if not, it will delete them.

I am not sure what the issue with the scanning is or how to code it different. I don't have the best knowledge of c# so I am not sure if I will be able to resolve this issue without someone else's help that knows more then I do.

I suppose if you know the physical drive number, I could implement a way you can manually enter a number to have it try and skip the scanning alltogether.

Hi, I haven't read all the other replies so this may have already been asked, but is there a Mac version of this?

Did you ever find a fix for this? I can get the video to play on my sons XDi ultra but once you exit them they disappear? Have followed all the instructions with no problems, any help appreciated, thanks, Tara

However, on my Ultra... The files download and install, I see the movie app. But when I click on it the screen goes black and then goes back to the home page and the APP is missing!

Do you know whats going on?

Perhaps is the Ultra locked down?

Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert

  1. Download the Software HERE
  2. Run the software and go to the LeapPad menu then Video Maker
  3. Find a video you want to use on your PC and drag / drop it onto the software in step 1
  4. Enter in the details you want and click the Convert Video button
  5. While it is converting, you can do step 7 and edit the icons specified to reflect your video and save them with the same names overwriting the existing ones.
  6. Once the video is done, click the Create App button and it will put all the files into a .tar file.
  7. You can close the Video Creator app so you are back to the main LeapPad Manager app.
  8. Connect your LeapPad to your PC and ensure the official Connect software is not running.
  9. In the custom LeapPad Manager software, go to LeapPad / Connect and it should connect to your device and display some info in the log window
  10. Simply drag / drop your video .tar file to the program to install it.

Please be aware that the app needs administrator privileges so it can scan the devices and find the LeapPad. You can right click on the device and choose run as administrator.  In order to drag/drop to the app, you may need to adjust your UAC or disable it.

If you are still unable to connect to the device, you may need to disable the Leapfrog Connect Device Service and ensure you are not in developer mode.

If the videos do not play, you need to install the video player which you can find here http://www16.zippyshare.com/v/77880182/file.html

The latest software v1.8.0 has been uploaded and will auto check if you need the video player. It also has ffmpeg included. If I start running into bandwidth issues, it will be removed.

I can play videos on my Ultra just fine. I do not have an XDi so I am unable to test. As for it disappearing, if you have any custom apps on the device including movies and you are connected via WIFI or connect the tablet to a PC, it will auto remove them. You will have to lose that functionality if you want custom stuff.

Has anyone got this working with the platinum ? I can create the video and install it, it shows up in Leappad manager but not on the tablet.
On a side note if your still looking for help with them manager, i'm a .NET/Mono programmer and might be able to help in some way ?

[edit]
On another side note, I think i can help you get this going under mono to help the mac users. Your already using WinForms so it might only take some minor changes, but that all depends on the back end tho. Tried running it on Ubuntu loads up nice but crashed on path errors.
