More specifically:
  • the commonly used getURL function will cause a return to desktop on the LeapPad and
  • most/all other network dependent functions will not work (E.G: Localization, Scoreboard)and often show NULL values
I would however like to work out a method of supplying any additional needed remote swf files within the tar of a game and call them using the same method as the DEWPLAYER mp3swf does for loading mp3s, I know this would need to be done on a per game basis but it would re-enable lost features/ functionality (Lola & Charlie - Count the germs had a bonus video if you completed all 5 levels)

Googled "play flash games in 2022" it said:

  1. Visit website.
  2. Download the correct version for your operating system.
  3. Install software.
  4. Once the installation process finishes, launch it.
  5. Load any Flash games you have.
  6. Start playing.

Or you could just:

  1. Download the Game from Here.
  2. Install the Game on your LeapPad.
  3. Play the Game on Your LeapPad.


They're just a perfect Flash game player.

this is what I am doing

1. download a swf file (less than 1MB seems to work, as I can't get angry birds to work. its 2mb)
2. untar the GoldMiner tar file
3. replace the swf file and rename it loader.swf
4. then re-tar it
5. use manager to 'load' it back to the device.


my question is - why doesn't the angrybirds.swf from the inno forum work?
how can I load multiple games?
how to switch the game from landscape to portrait? would be good for tetris.

Its quite easy to manually edit the games meta.inf, although its easier to use the app
start by making a duplicate of the template game(Gold Miner) on your PC, we'll call that our "work folder"
Every change we're about to make is in the work folder.

Editing the template game files using notepad++
  • edit "GameInfo.json"  
Change the "IconLabel" value, This is the text that will be shown on the home screen when you highlight the game.
  • edit "Meta.inf"
Change the "ProductID" + "PackageID" + "Name"

Notice: The IconLabel and Name fields should be the same value.
Notice: The ProductID should appear as the middle section of the PackageID
Notice: It is good practice to keep track of which PackageIDs are taken to avoid installing over another game with the same ID.
  • Save both files to the work folder.
  • Rename your_downloaded_game.swf to "loader.swf" 
  • Place loader.swf in the work folder, replacing/overwriting the template file.

Installing Via LeapPad Manager.

You will need 7Zip to package the files 
  • Archive the files inside the work folder into a .tar file.
  • Rename the .tar file to the PackageID of the game.
  • Install the .tar package with LeapPad Manager

I Should Have Also Wrote:Notice: The game files must be in the root of the .tar, don't tar the game folder, just the contents.

Use google images, Paint.NET's magic wand and USE the template images and you'll have your own icons in no time.

I did actually knock together a small Visual Basic app that took the template from gold miner and appended a few strings from text boxes making it all very simple...
It doesn't do the artwork though.
It makes MP3 player packages too.

2nd Release is Complete, added a few games for "older kids".

Next Batch will include titles from Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and More Kids titles.

You're more than welcome(You know where the Rate button is Tongue ), with Flash being slowly phased out, I'm sure some of the older titles will begin to fall out of existence, it's already difficult finding the original summary for some titles where the names have been used more recently.
I've been looking at alot of AS and while it sometimes just breaks and goes into slideshow mode. I have been able to make a good number of successful edits. I'm going to keep going until I'm either good enough to start writing my own forms or this collection outnumbers the official one.
